2018 Kennedy Oaks Day Wrap Up
Ladies Day at Flemington saw our guests welcomed into the Home Straight Enclosure with a glass of bubbly to start of their day. The day brought beautiful Spring fashion, weather and atmosphere.
Floral’s ruled the Styles on the Straight stage on Oaks Day with both the Menswear and Womenswear Categories getting into the spring spirit with bright colours and styles.
First place in the Womenswear category went to Gulistan Lurther in a Sacanlan Theodore tartan piece and a Awon Golding yellow brim hat which also won her the Lady of Leisure’s Millinery Award presented by the Founder and Creative Director, Lisa Leverington. Second place was won by Valerie Sellers in a bold yellow floral outfit from Review and matching yellow headpiece by Edwina Woods. Valerie was the 2017 Styles on the Straight third place winner. Looking forward to seeing what beautiful outfit she will bring to the stage in 2019! Chloe Cullard came in third place wearing a flowing lilac dress by Elle Zeitoune dress and headpiece by Morgan and Taylor.
Bradley Newman took out the Menswear Category first place wearing a Hugo Boss navy suit and blue and white checkered tie. In second place in a red blazer paired with beige chinos and a flora shirt was Damien O’Brie. Sam Todaro came third in a paisley shirt and cream coloured jacket with a stingy brim fedora.
The crowd chose Christine Goodsir as the winner of the People’s Choice Award. She wears a red flowing dress with flower headpiece.
Flemington trainers Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra took out the Group 1 Kennedy Oaks with their filly Aristia. Ridden by jockey Damian Lane and coming off victory in Saturday’s Group 2 Mumm Wakfeful Stakes. Greysful Glamour ridden by Tim Clark came second while jockey Michelle Payne riding Miner’s Miss took third place.
