2018 Seppelt Wines Stakes Day Wrap Up
The weather was perfect and the sun was shining for Seppelt Wine Stakes Day, bringing a lively crowd who got to enjoy the Home Straight Enclosure for the last day of the 2018 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The Group 1 Seppelt Mackinnon Stakes saw Warrnambool trainer Jarrod McLean take home the $2 million with Trap for Fools beating Latrobe in 2nd and Derby Day winner Extra Brut in 3rd. This marked McLean’s first Group 1 win, thrilled after the race saying “It’s the best I’ve seen him kick and i hoped for that”.
There was an overwhelming turn out for the Styles on the Straight competition on Stakes Day. This brought an amazing array of fashion and personality. It was a tough deliberation for our guest judges Julia Rangiheuea and Stephanie Caudwellto from Hypoxi/Fitness First to pick the best dresses for the Womenswear and Menswear categories.
Coming in first place in the Womens Category was Brooke Semini in a white lace Thurley dress with red flower detail, matching red shoes and handmade headpiece. Annie Carter in a black mesh dress from Myer with flower detail and headpiece from Keegan Mae Millinery came in second place and Tess Seddon in a white dress, also with red flower detail came in third with headpiece from Mimco.
In the Mens Category, Spencer Noonan in a Bell & Barnett navy 3 piece suit came in first place. Nick Bale in a grey tartan suit with brown tie came in second and in third place, Matt Stevens in a blue suit jacket, white pants and a stingy brim fedora.
