2017 MYER Spring Fashion Lunch
What better way to welcome the new season than with the annual MYER Spring Fashion Lunch.
700 of Melbourne’s most stylish descended upon Flemington yesterday, donning their best spring racing attire. The clouds and the drizzle didn’t dampen spirits, it was all pretty pastels and bright smiles.
This year, the event was hosted by Channel 7’s Hamish McLachlan and Myer Ambassador Rachael Finch. Rachael was sparkling in a Demkiw black dress and mesh top, paired with a gold headpiece by Lady of Leisure Millinery.
Recently announced 2017 Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador, Rebecca Harding, debuted in her role, wearing Nicola Finetti finished perfectly with Lady of Leisure Millinery. Harding said she was looking forward to judging the 2017 Myer Fashions on the Field, and is excited to see the contestants injecting their personality into their race day outfits.
Kris Smith, Myer Ambassador, who will be judging the Men’s Racewear category, says he too will be looking out for contestants who not only follow the criteria, but add an individual touch to their look. His advice to the male racegoers; “find a suit that fits well and wear it with confidence”, and don’t forget to add some colour with a pocket square or some patterned socks.
Finally what everyone came for, the racewear parade showcasing Myer’s new season designer clothing, millinery and accessories. The show featured new season clothing from labels including Mossman, Cue, Karen Millen, Asilio, and millinery from designers including Viktoria Novak, Mimco, Natalie Bikicki and Lady of Leisure.
The runway was flooded with 50 shades of red, from blush to scarlet. We saw feminine frills, structured silhouettes and the traditional spring pastels and florals.
In Millinery, the sophisticated boater hat has returned, along with the jeweled headbands and metallic crowns.
